George Cotaras
DIRECTOR
George Cotaras has practiced architecture for almost four decades and is the immediate Past President of Fowler Bauld & Mitchell (FBM), a 105-year-old Halifax-based architectural practice, practicing in many jurisdictions across Canada. George has also taught as a sessional instructor in the first year Master’s Design Studio at Dalhousie University.
Throughout his career George has been an active volunteer in his community and profession. Much of his volunteer work has been related to professional licensing and certification. He has been a longstanding member of the NSAA Board of Registration and is currently serving as Registrar and Councilor. Additionally, he has been involved with the BEFA Program since its early days and has chaired several assessment panels.
CACB Engagement
George looks forward to his involvement with the CACB and the links between academia and practice. He is interested in advancing the education, certification and experience aspects of students and interns as they progress through to licensure and how architects and the profession can be leaders in current issues related to carbon neutrality and equity, diversity, and inclusion.
