Darryl Condon is interested in design that acts as a catalyst for positive social change. As Managing Principal at Vancouver-based architecture and design studio, hcma, he has created engaging public spaces across Canada for more than 30 years, including community centres, libraries, swimming pools, ice arenas and high-performance sport facilities.

Darryl’s work has been recognized internationally for its design excellence with more than 80 awards, including four World Architecture Festival (WAF) Awards. He has lectured extensively across North America, South America, Europe and Australia. Most recently, these talks have focused on designing for social impact, inclusion and accessibility, the future of community recreation, and the power of transformative architectural practice.

Darryl is a registered Architect, a LEED-Accredited Professional, and a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. He is a Past-President of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia and an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia’s School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. Since 2016, Darryl has chaired RISE for Architecture, a committee of architects, regulators, and advocates calling for the development of an architecture policy for Canada.
