How to Send Your Documents
Prior to submitting any documents, you must complete your online application and obtain an ECA file number (e.g., ECAXXX). This number must be clearly indicated on all correspondence and documentation submitted in support of your application. Please request that your academic institution include this number on all documents and sealed envelopes sent to the CACB.
There are only two accepted methods for submitting your documents. Please review both options carefully to determine which one best suits your circumstances. Please note that documents submitted through any method other than the two accepted options will not be processed. In such cases, you will be required to resend your documents using one of the approved submission methods.
Option 1: Documents Sent by the Applicant
Official academic transcripts must be submitted to the CACB in a sealed envelope that is signed or stamped across the back flap by an authorized official at the issuing institution. This envelope may be submitted by the applicant; however, it must remain sealed and properly authenticated. Envelopes that are opened or not signed or stamped across the seal will not be accepted.
The degree diploma may be included in the same sealed envelope as the transcript, or it can be submitted separately by the applicant, either by mail or by email.
If your academic documents are issued in a language other than English or French, an official, word-for-word translation is required. In such cases, the CACB requires two separate sealed envelopes: one containing the original-language documents, and another containing the official translation. Both envelopes must be sealed and signed or stamped across the flap by the appropriate authority—either the institution or the certified translator. We recommend requesting an additional sealed envelope of your documents from your institution to provide directly to the translator for this purpose.
Option 2: Documents Sent by the Institution
Official academic transcripts must be sent directly to the CACB by the institution where the degree was awarded. The documents must be original or official copies enclosed in a sealed envelope, with the envelope signed or stamped across the back flap by an authorized official at the institution. Documents submitted in envelopes that are unsealed, or that do not bear an official stamp or signature across the seal, will not be accepted.
The degree diploma may be included in the same sealed envelope as the transcript sent by the institution, or it can be sent directly to the CACB by the applicant, either by mail or by email.
If your academic documents are issued in a language other than English or French, an official, word-for-word translation is also required. In such cases, the CACB requires two separate submissions: one sealed envelope containing the original-language documents sent directly to the CACB by the issuing institution, and a second sealed envelope containing the official translation, sent directly to the CACB by a certified translator. We recommend requesting an additional sealed envelope from your institution to provide directly to the translator for this purpose.
Important Notes
The CACB is not responsible for documents received without an application number. Failure to include your application number may result in significant delays in the processing of your file.
Regardless of the shipping method selected for submitting your documents, all associated shipping and customs fees remain the responsibility of the applicant. The CACB does not assume liability for any unpaid shipping or customs charges.
