Volunteers are the lifeblood of non-profit organizations, bringing invaluable expertise and dedication that drive their success. At the Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB), volunteers play a vital role in both governance and operations, making significant contributions to the organization’s effectiveness and impact.
CACB volunteers consist of and count on individuals serving in the following key roles:

- Accreditation Program Visiting Team Members
- Broadly Experienced Foreign Architects (BEFA) Program Assessors

Calls for Nominations
Calls for nominations are tailored to each program and its specific needs. Volunteer positions are filled through the calls for nominations released by the Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) to the Regulatory Organizations of Architecture in Canada (ROAC), the Canadian Council of University School of Architecture (CCUSA), and the Canadian Architectural Student Association (CASA).
CACB DIRECTOR: The Board
If you are interested in becoming a Director on the CACB Board, we encourage you to review the Call for Nominations, released each year on March 15 to the Regulatory Organizations of Architecture in Canada (ROAC) and the Canadian Council of University Schools of Architecture (CCUSA).
Take the time to familiarize yourself with the CACB’s mandate and the expectations of a Board member, as serving on the Board requires active engagement and commitment to the organization’s governance and mission (The CACB-CCCA, Robert’s Rules of Order, Acronyms, The CACB Governance Handbook)

VISITING TEAM MEMBER: Architectural Accreditation Program
If you are interested in becoming a visiting team member to conduct cyclical reviews and assessments of professional programs’ compliance with the Conditions and Terms for Accreditation through virtual and in-person visits, we encourage you to review the Call for Nominations below. Please contact the relevant organization to express your interest in being considered.
We also recommend taking the time to familiarize yourself with the CACB’s Accreditation Program.
- CCUSA Call for Nomination – Accreditation Visiting Team Members. Nominations for educators to serve as Visiting Team Members for the Accreditation Program. This call is issued to the CCUSA as needed.
- ROAC Call for Nomination – Accreditation Visiting Team Members. Nominations for Practitioners and Intern Architects to serve as Visiting Team Members for the Accreditation Program. This call is issued to the ROAC as needed.
BEFA ASSESSOR: Broadly Experienced Foreign Architects Program
If you are interested in joining the BEFA Assessors Roster to review and assess the experience of foreign architects for compliance with the Canadian Standard of Competency for Architects, and to grant certification that qualifies them for licensure in Canada, we encourage you to review the role and responsibilities of BEFA Assessors. We also recommend taking the time to familiarize yourself with the CACB’s BEFA Program.
- BEFA Assessors Nomination for practicing Architects. This call is released to ROAC. Please contact your Architectes Association to express your interest and enquire about eligibility.
