Translation of Documents

The Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) requires official translations of any documents issued in languages other than English or French.

Translations must be exact, word-for-word, and obtained either from your academic institution or a professional translation agency. These translations are essential to supplement your required documents, ensuring the accuracy of our evaluation process and reports.

We recommend that you request from your institution two sealed envelopes: one containing the original documents to be sent directly to the CACB, and another containing the documents intended for the translator.

Please note: The CACB does not provide translation services. It is your responsibility to provide official translations for any documents not originally issued in English or French.

All translations submitted to the CACB must meet the following criteria:

  • Exact and word-for-word
    • All text in the original language must be accurately translated into English or French.
  • Clear and legible
    • Our evaluators need to read all translated course titles and grades, as well as information about the institution and the applicant.
  • Completed by a professional translator
    • This person might be from a university, certified translation agency, or any other professional translation service.

The CACB will reject translations that are:

  • Handwritten;
  • Translations of photocopies;
  • Translations completed by the applicants themselves; or
  • Incomplete translations.
