SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
COVID-19: Operational updates
In response to COVID-19, The Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) has adopted a series of measures and actions to maintain its operations and to ensure its staff, volunteers, and partners’ safety.
We are not accepting walk-in meetings at this time. Meetings are by appointment only and must adhere to Covid-19 safety and physical distancing measures. A mask must be worn, hands must be sanitized upon entering the office, and a physical distance of a minimum 2 meters must be maintained throughout the duration of the meeting. Staff
Effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020, staff members are working from home with a limited individual presence in office. The length of this measure will be aligned with Public Health recommendations.
Board and Committees
- Face-to-face spring Board meeting scheduled in Whitehorse, YT, on June 12-13, 2020, has been replaced by a distance meeting on June 12, 2020.
- Until further notice, all CACB Committee meetings, including Academic Certification Assessment Committee, are held by distance.
CACB Conference
To ensure the safety of all participants, the CACB has decided to postpone its Conference to 2021. The new dates and location are September 24-25, 2021 (Travel dates: Sep.23 and 26), at the Marriott Hotel in Ottawa, ON.
Accreditation Program
Accreditation Visits
The Maintenance Accreditation Visit scheduled on March 21-25, 2020, to Université de Montréal’s Master of Architecture (M. Arch) Program has been postponed to 2021.
Program’s Accreditation Term has been extended to June 30, 2021.
Reports
Reporting deadlines are kept as scheduled:
- April 30, 2020 for Focused Evaluation Report;
- June 30, 2020 for Annual Reports;
- September 15, 2020 for Architecture Program Reports
Academic Certification Program
Applications for Academic certification (hard copy and online) are still accepted and received. Assessment Process has been adapted to the COVID-19 outbreak and kept running. Delays are expected in the assessment timelines but we are working hard and doing our best to reduce any impact on applicants.
BEFA (Broadly Experienced Foreign Architects) Program
Same as Academic Certification Program, applications for BEFA certification are still accepted and received. Assessment Process is still running as usual and according to the established timelines
By precaution, all 2020 interviews continue to be postponed until further notice. New dates will be released when regular operations are safe to resume.
